Project and Relationship Manager – Sport for Development Partnerships 2020-2023

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

ChildFund Australia, through its Sport for Development programs, including the ground-breaking ChildFund Pass It Back youth leadership, rugby and life skills development program, is working to secure a range of partnerships with sports bodies globally. We are looking for an experienced, hands on and passionate Project and Program Manager who will play a pivotal role in the coordination, development and delivery of partnerships. You will plan and coordinate the multiple facets of partnerships, including direct implementation of some activities. You will manage projects ensuring highly successful partnerships that maximise brand, effectively communicate key messages and secure new corporate and government support. You are in charge of generating increased funding for ChildFund’s ongoing development work.

 

KEY DUTIES

  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of successful charity partnerships within agreed timelines;
  • Maximise profile-raising and funding opportunities through targeted fundraising and relationship management with key corporate partners;
  • Build corporate sponsorship relationships for ChildFund;
  • Work closely with a range of sports stakeholders to ensure planning and implementation of activities are aligned;
  • Manage, regularly update and coordinate the project work plan and budget across all workstreams ensuring that colleagues are clear on tasks and timeframes;
  • Directly implement activities as appropriate and agreed (e.g. organisation of events, communications, fundraising activities);
  • Leverage ChildFund’s experience as a major sporting event charity partner to add-value to the Sport for Development sector, with a particular focus on girls and women;
  • Represent externally ChildFund’s Sport for Development expertise, including liaison with national sporting organisations;
  • Demonstrate and document best practice of sport organisation and development organisation partnerships.
  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or PSEAH risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant educational background, e.g. in business, project management;
  • Proven experience in delivering major event-related projects within agreed timelines and in a global context, ideally work experience in the Pacific;
  • Excellent partner engagement and internal communication skills;
  • A natural networker with strong interpersonal skills, with a professional approach to build and maintain relationships;
  • Strong project management skills with an attention to detail;
  • Proven experience in managing project budgets and risk management;
  • Multi-tasker with an ability and willingness to be hands on across multiple disciplines;
  • Substantial experience in one of the fields of: fundraising, communication, public relations, media or corporate engagement.
